Coming face to face with rapid population growth and wealth creation in the world today, it goes without saying that our generation faces two great challenges ahead. First, the crisis of economic, social and environmental sustainability of any given town, province or region, the second, is the astonishing rise of the China’s global influence. We are convinced that these challenges are the prerogative of not a particular industry, nation or agency but common to us all. Never before have we lived in an era where the young and committed minds have had so many resources at their own disposal to implement changes that need to be made.

From Beijing to Xian then Sichuan and finally Hong Kong, the expedition will provide TED Talks videos, live speakers and the opportunity to mix in local ideas for discussion.
The journey through the eyes of participants will showcase projects with ecological and economic impacts, such as the Loess Plateau Rehabilitation Project, Three Gorges Dam, Sichuan Earthquake zone and green businesses in Hong Kong. The two-week expedition through China will offer insight into ecosystem regeneration benefiting local livelihood, effective management in post earthquake zones, studies in green infrastructure and social entrepreneurial approaches in urban areas.

TEDxPedition Hong Kong is the last leg of TEDxPedition China. The first ever country wide multiple TEDx event span over 8 provinces in two weeks. Our mission is to bring together a platform of bright minds, sustainable development experts and speakers practicing social change to create a dialogue in future solutions for problems we face this century.
